Documents

A basic preparation list. The competent authority creates the personal checklist based on citizenship and place of application.

• A valid passport and copies of its pages
• A completed application form and recent photographs
• The sponsor's residence permit, family documents, accommodation, funds and a police clearance certificate for an adult relative
• Proof of funds, accommodation and health insurance — where required
• A police clearance certificate, medical documents, translation and legalisation — if listed for the chosen category

Application steps

1. 1Establish the eligibility of the particular relative
2. 2Authenticate and translate the civil status documents
3. 3Submit the request through the applicable AIMA channel
4. 4Complete the consular stage and biometrics where required

After arrival

• Obtain the residence permit at AIMA
• Arrange the NIF, healthcare and school
• Watch the card's validity, which is normally tied to the sponsor's card
