Who it is for
- The sponsor's valid residence permit
- An evidenced family relationship or de facto union
- Accommodation and funds appropriate to the family's size
Documents
A basic preparation list. The competent authority creates the personal checklist based on citizenship and place of application.
- A valid passport and copies of its pages
- A completed application form and recent photographs
- The sponsor's residence permit, family documents, accommodation, funds and a police clearance certificate for an adult relative
- Proof of funds, accommodation and health insurance — where required
- A police clearance certificate, medical documents, translation and legalisation — if listed for the chosen category
Application steps
- 1Establish the eligibility of the particular relative
- 2Authenticate and translate the civil status documents
- 3Submit the request through the applicable AIMA channel
- 4Complete the consular stage and biometrics where required
After arrival
- Obtain the residence permit at AIMA
- Arrange the NIF, healthcare and school
- Watch the card's validity, which is normally tied to the sponsor's card
