Questions and answers

Common questions about converting

Do I need an account to use a converter?

No. One conversion works without signing up — upload a file and download the result. An account lets you keep working, store documents and lift the limit on files per operation.

Does FileLama add watermarks?

No. No logo, caption or other foreign element is added to a PDF or an image — the result contains only your data.

How long are uploaded files kept?

The source file is deleted right after processing, and the link to the result lives for 20 minutes and is tied to the browser that started the operation.

What is the maximum file size?

For a conversion without sign-up it is 10 MB per file. Paid plans raise the limit and allow more files in a single operation.

Why does converting a scan to Word produce an empty document?

A plain conversion carries over the PDF's existing text layer. A photo or scan has none — it needs text recognition (OCR) first, and only then a conversion to Word.

For documents, JPG or PNG?

PNG compresses losslessly, so small text, tables and drawings stay sharp. JPG weighs less and suits photos and publishing on the web.
