Who it is for

• Evidenced remote employment or provision of services outside Portugal
• Tax residence and average monthly income over the last three months
• Income at or above the set multiple of the minimum wage as at the date of application

Documents

A basic preparation list. The competent authority creates the personal checklist based on citizenship and place of application.

• A valid passport and copies of its pages
• A completed application form and recent photographs
• An employment contract or employer declaration, or services contracts, plus tax residence and three months of income
• Proof of funds, accommodation and health insurance — where required
• A police clearance certificate, medical documents, translation and legalisation — if listed for the chosen category

Application steps

1. 1Choose the temporary or residence category according to your intended stay
2. 2Evidence the remote relationship and your income
3. 3File the application at the consulate
4. 4For the residence route, obtain the card through AIMA

After arrival

• Obtain the NIF and register your address
• Establish your tax and social security regime
• Maintain the foreign employment and your proof of income
