01

E-visa

The e-visa is applied for online and is open to citizens of every country. It is valid for up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, and is accepted at all international border checkpoints. As at the date checked, applications are filed only on the state portal.

Who it is for

  • A valid passport with at least six months remaining
  • A purpose of travel that the e-visa allows
  • Payment of the fee on the official portal

Who it is for

  • An offer from a Vietnamese employer
  • Qualifications and experience as the position requires
  • A police clearance certificate and a medical report

Who it is for

  • A registered company or a stake in one
  • An evidenced investment amount
  • Meeting the requirements of the chosen ĐT subcategory
04

Study

The DH visa is issued for study at an accredited Vietnamese institution, including language programmes and internships.

Family

The TT visa is for spouses and children of Vietnamese citizens, and for the family of a foreign national holding a temporary residence card.

  • Documented family relationship
  • The host's valid status
  • Proof of accommodation and funds

For your citizenship

What citizens of Russia and Kazakhstan need

The baseline document list is the same for everyone, but the visa regime, legalisation and translations depend on your citizenship. Below are the differences, checked against official sources.

No visa required under a bilateral agreement

The Viet Nam — Belarus agreement on visa exemption for holders of ordinary passports entered into force on 30 January 2025 and is listed as in force in the treaty database of Viet Nam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Check the permitted length of visa-free stay on an official resource before travelling: the database publishes only a scan of the agreement, and we will not state an unverified number here.

Right after arrival

  • Digital arrival declaration

Before entry you complete a digital declaration that produces a QR code for border control. The requirement applies to visa-free entry as well.

  • Registration at your place of residence

A foreign national must be registered at their address of stay. A hotel or landlord normally does it, but responsibility for the registration remains with the foreign national.

  • Apostille on official documents

Civil registry certificates, official statements, diplomas and court documents are accepted abroad with an apostille issued in Belarus. The competent authority depends on the type of document — check it before ordering a translation.

  • Consular legalisation instead of an apostille — until 11 September 2026

Vietnam has acceded to the Apostille Convention, but it enters into force for the country on 11 September 2026. Until then Russian and Kazakhstani documents are accepted only after consular legalisation; an apostille will not do. If you are filing around that date, check which procedure will be applied to your file.

Visa-free entry does not grant the right to work: employment requires a separate work permit.

No visa needed, up to 45 days

Vietnam unilaterally exempts Russian citizens from a visa for up to 45 days regardless of the purpose of travel; the exemption has been extended to 2028. The visa-free period cannot be extended inside the country: for a longer stay, obtain a 90-day e-visa or another basis.
