A long-stay student visa is issued for programmes over three months. For Russia and many other countries the Études en France procedure comes before France-Visas. From 1 August 2026 France-Visas states a minimum of €877.50 per month.

Documents
A basic preparation list. The competent authority creates the personal checklist based on citizenship and place of application.
- A valid passport and copies of its pages
- A completed application form and recent photographs
- Admission, the Études en France file, proof of funds from €877.50 per month for applications from 1 August 2026, and accommodation
- Proof of funds, accommodation and health insurance — where required
- A police clearance certificate, medical documents, translation and legalisation — if listed for the chosen category
