The ordinary entrepreneur or profession libérale route suits an economically viable self-employed activity; innovative and investment projects may qualify for the Carte talent.

Who it is for
- A genuine and viable project
- Sufficient resources, qualifications and permits for a regulated activity
- For Talent creator — the applicable requirements on degree or experience and investment
Documents
A basic preparation list. The competent authority creates the personal checklist based on citizenship and place of application.
- A valid passport and copies of its pages
- A completed application form and recent photographs
- The business plan, funding, proof of experience or degree, premises and professional authorisations
- Proof of funds, accommodation and health insurance — where required
- A police clearance certificate, medical documents, translation and legalisation — if listed for the chosen category

- 2Prepare the financial and commercial file
- 3Get your personal document list on France-Visas and file the application
- 4Register the activity after arrival
After arrival
- Validate the visa or apply for the card
- Register the company or activity and your social security regime
- Keep documents evidencing the project's viability
