Documents

A basic preparation list. The competent authority creates the personal checklist based on citizenship and place of application.

• A valid passport and copies of its pages
• A completed application form and recent photographs
• Proof of foreign remote work, salary, insurance, passport and the medical examination
• Proof of funds, accommodation and health insurance — where required
• A police clearance certificate, medical documents, translation and legalisation — if listed for the chosen category

Application steps

1. 1Evidence your foreign employment and income
2. 2Apply for entry or residence through the ICP or GDRFA
3. 3Complete the change of status and the medical examination
4. 4Receive the Emirates ID

After arrival

• Do not take local work without a separate authorisation
• Maintain your insurance and your foreign employment
• Apply for renewal before the one-year permit expires
