Short stay / Visa C

A Visa C allows up to 90 days in any 180-day period and does not normally serve as a basis for temporary residence. Since 23 April 2025 digital travel authorizations are issued for eligible countries.

Who it is for

  • A visa is required for your particular citizenship or document
  • A short tourist, business or private purpose
  • Funds, accommodation, insurance and an invitation, depending on the purpose

Documents

A basic preparation list. The competent authority creates the personal checklist based on citizenship and place of application.

  • A valid passport and copies of its pages
  • A completed application form and recent photographs
  • The application form, passport, photos, an invitation or booking, funds and travel medical insurance
  • Proof of funds, accommodation and health insurance — where required
  • A police clearance certificate, medical documents, translation and legalisation — if listed for the chosen category

Application steps

  4. 4Confirm the purpose of your trip at the border

After arrival

  • Observe the 90/180 rule
  • Register your stay under the local rules
  • Do not treat a Visa C as an automatic basis for residence
